What we Ordered… Fire cracker roll, cherry wood chicken, gold flake barrah kebabs, cold chat, corgi pepper roast potatoes, raan-e-shahi, Burmese khow suey, edamame and shitake kitcheree – basically, way too much food. But we had to! …
What Impressed
I took hubby to Jaan at the Penthouse as we got engaged at this venue before it was a restaurant.
Presentation was great and the taste of the food was not compromised in any manner. our favourite dishes included the corgi pepper roast potatoes, cherry wood chicken, and the Burmese khow suey.
What Depressed
The firecracker roll. What seemed extremely promising (given the onion and carrot bhaji addition), just didn’t deliver in terms of taste. I do wish they had a soy/complimentary sauce to accompany this fusion sushi.
To be very honest, we were not a fan of the pricing. Some of the items were a little too expensive for the portion and taste. I would probably take the gold flakes off the Barrah kebabs and drop the price from a whopping AED 115 down to AED 80. What I’m trying to say is.. this meal shouldn’t have cost us AED 1000+. I’d have been pleased if we walked out of there with an AED 800 bill – Just my opinion!
The Verdict
We would definitely go back for the cherry wood chicken, roast potatoes, Khow Suey and drinks.
